Mother Muse, Sarah

The dreamiest maternity session I’ve had the honor of photographing — it was feminine and whimsical and ethereal.

My friend, Sarah allowed me to document this vulnerable season for her in my sunroom back in January.

Ferrell created the most beautiful floral installation featuring some of my favorite florals including, baby’s breath and dyed amaranthus. I incorporated tulle, lace and other neutral draped fabric to make it very organic and soft. I loved using tulle in this shoot, it gave it dimension, volume and a sense of whimsy.

It was such a beautiful morning with these ladies, I’m so thankful.

As seen in Mother Muse, issue no. 13 and also featured in a recent blog post on Mother Muse called, “Ode to Hope” written by Joanna Drot Troha. Here is a favorite excerpt, “I am constantly grateful…for my restless baby that tells me all I need to know. For love that comes in ever more thoughtful and ingenious forms. For the trust that all mothers must have in the process, the faith in all the women out there that I cannot see and touch but are themselves ripe with new life to bring into the unknown.”
